Your guide to Indian education
If you're a teacher looking to partner with an Indian school, you'll want to know a little about the Indian education system. Here's a brief overview:
 India-Education system
The Indian Government formulates a National Policy on Education which provides guidelines for the development of an appropriate curriculum by the National Council of Education Research and Training. Education being a concurrent subject in the Indian Constitution, each state also has a State Council of Education Research and Training and its own education policy.

Students appear for a board examination at the end of year 10 and 12 in their selected subjects. The Examinations are administered either by one of the two examining bodies which operate throughout India i.e. Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), or, any of the State Boards of Education which operate only within the respective states and cater to regional requirements of the students. Schools have the option of choosing to be affiliated to any of these Boards of Examination and prepare their students according to the curriculum recommended.

India is the first country outside the UK where British Council has piloted the International School Award. The programme is now in its third year has accredited 19 schools while 33 schools are working towards the award in the current academic session.
