up posters and invite sponsorship from local businesses. You'll

Themes - examples
- Literacy: Haiku poetry, folk tales, writing
tourist brochures
- Numeracy: converting currencies, planning
distances or working on time differences
- Science: comparing temperatures, weather
patterns or exploring natural and manufactured resources
- Information Technology: using the internet to
gather information, create school links, analysing data, presenting
information
Formats - examples
- Whole school study of one country through all
curriculum areas
- Each year group/class chooses a different
country to study through all curriculum areas
- Countries are chosen to reflect the diversity of
the local community
- Each class provides a country environment and
children from other classes visit
- Pick a theme such as sustainable
development, human rights, fair trade, or millennium development
goals with each year group or class looking at different
aspects of that theme across the world.
- The focus could be on a particular continent, or
European or Worldwide
- Each year group/class chooses a country but the
main focus is through one curriculum area e.g. Art, Music, Maths or
Geography
