Community cohesion
The Global Gateway works with the Schools Linking Network
to help schools meet their duty to promote Community Cohesion. The
SLN support links within England, while Global Gateway can help
identify funding for these clusters to work globally or to
focus on British identity in a global context.
Community cohesion through sport
The Community and Education programme funds local
authorities, Football in the Community groups or non profit
organisations involved in community and education projects.
The 'Fit Through Football' programme, developed by Community
and Education in partnership with Middlesbrough FC's Football
in the Community Programme, is a great example of what can be
achieved.
The Foundation provided £148,920 grant to deliver a
comprehensive healthy lifestyle programme, embracing positive
lifestyle messages, drug awareness information, citizenship
classes, physical activities, literacy and numeracy education as
well as after-school coaching clubs.
The scheme will offer additional community benefits by
addressing such issues as crime reduction and anti social
behaviour.
