ictQATAR and British Council announce the launch of Qatar's Global Gateway.

Dr Hessa Al Jaber, ictQATAR secretary general, and the British ambassador Simon Collis officially launched the gateway at a ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha on Monday 29th January.
      
Qatar joined the global gateway initiative in February 2006
as a strategic partner and has completed the development of Qatar's webpage on the website.
 
Officials from ictQATAR said that the portal will play a leading role in providing quality education in Qatar by enabling teachers to share expirience and resources with their clleagues around the world.  Mohamed Al-Ansari, ictQATAR's e-education manager, said 'This partnership is an essential step towards difersifying learning opportunities in our schools.'  Anthony Jones, Director of British Council Qatar, weclomed Qatar's membership by saying 'we are positive that Qatari students and teachers will benefit immensely from sharing their expiriences and traditions with their global peers'.
 
Training of teachers in Qatar was begun last May with a series of workshops and more teachers will have the opportunity to join workshops over the coming months.
