Eastern Europe
UK schools sadly overlook Eastern Europe in
their rush to gain partnerships in France or Spain. However for a
friendly, proactive and responsive partner, Eastern European
schools are hard to beat.
Primary and secondary schools in Eastern Europe offer
excellent English speaking skills (building literacy skills across
both schools), a smattering of other European languages besides
their own (ideal for primary languages strategy), and a
willingness and flexibility to participate in projects on many
required topic areas including the Second World War, religious
diversity and understanding, Rivers, Folk Tales etc. Vocational
skills are also widely and well taught.
There is an good understanding of inclusive practice and a
strong likelihood of finding a partnership for a special school or
SEN unit.
Take care to establish whether the school is interested only in
Comenius funding: the ideal partner will be glad to develop a
partnership that is not contingent on funding.

Council offices in the respective countries.
