Send my friend to school

Global leaders promised that all children around the world will get the chance of a primary education by 2015 but a lot needs to happen in the next six years to reach that goal.

That's where your students come in!   They can join thousands of young campaigners in over 100 countries who are asking world leaders to do whatever it takes to ensure all children get a primary education by 2015.

Young campaigners This year’s Send My Friend to School action is a global BIG READ taking place on April 22nd. Even if you are unable to hold your event on April 22nd, it will be just as valuable to hold it on a different day.

You can register to take part and get your free schools pack from www.sendmyfriend.org

The Send My Friend website is packed with global citizenship teaching resources for primary and secondary age groups – ranging from lesson plans and films, to case studies of young people missing out on school. A free BIG READ book includes contributions from Nelson Mandela, Michael Morpurgo, Dakota Blue and others and contains remarkable stories about how education can change the world as we know it.

If you have a link school you might want to arrange to do joint activities on the BIG READ day. Check out the global section of the website to find out about campaigning around the world.

If you would like to link with a school in Africa to work together on the theme of Send My Friend to school, please look through our advice page and get in touch with partnerfinding@globalgateway.org.
